Russian Military News, Moscow, April 3, 2025 – Russia sharply criticized the United States on Thursday, labeling threats of military action against Iran as intolerable. The Kremlin warned that any assault on its ally could trigger disastrous consequences, particularly if Iran’s nuclear facilities were targeted. This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump, on Sunday, vowed to impose bombings and additional tariffs on Iran unless it negotiates over its nuclear activities, with American warplanes now redeployed to the region.
Russia Seeks Diplomatic Path for Iran’s Nuclear Program
Russia’s Foreign Ministry emphasized its dedication to resolving tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear ambitions through dialogue, upholding Tehran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy.
Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned military coercion as unlawful, stating, “Resorting to force against Iran is both illegitimate and unacceptable.” She cautioned that strikes on nuclear sites could spark an irreversible global crisis.
Warnings of Regional Chaos Amplify Concerns
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov echoed these sentiments, telling Life magazine that an attack on Iran risks igniting a wider Middle East conflict. “The fallout, especially from targeting nuclear infrastructure, could devastate the region,” he said.
While Russia and Iran bolstered ties with a January strategic partnership, it lacks a mutual defense pledge. Amid Western claims of Iran pursuing nuclear weapons—denied by Tehran—Russia continues to reject U.S. aggression, amplifying fears of escalating instability.
